Leonard is a highly experienced U.S. Attorney, Patent Attorney and Entrepreneur who helps technology companies protect and strategically leverage their intellectual property. With extensive top-tier experience, he excels at supporting clients through the full patent lifecycle, offering clear, commercially focused advice tailored to innovation, growth, and investment.
He co-founded Revolution Turbine Technologies, a startup focused on harnessing excess gas pressure for clean power generation, and Vorté Technologies, a clean heating and cooling solutions company. These ventures highlight his commitment to sustainability and innovation.
Leonard has held key legal roles, including Equity Partner at four IP law firms (one of which he founded, grew and sold), and Lead Patent Counsel at Zuru, where he managed a global patent portfolio and provided strategic IP support across diverse product lines.

Leonard has over 25 years of experience representing some of the world’s most innovative technology companies - ranging from early-stage startups to Fortune 500 companies such as Microsoft and Amazon. He has prepared, filed, and overseen the prosecution of more than 1000 patent applications, with a focus on the clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and the electrical and engineering arts.

Leonard provides end-to-end patent lifecycle support—from identifying and capturing strategic inventions to managing global portfolios, securing protection, and advising on post-grant strategies. He is highly experienced in patent portfolio development, forward patenting, and offers commercially focused guidance on IP strategy for commercialisation and investment readiness. His services include due diligence, licensing and pre-litigation support, as well as non-infringement, invalidity, and freedom-to-operate opinions.

In addition to his patent expertise, Leonard regularly provides strategic advice on commercialisation, including IP asset mix, jurisdictional filing decisions, and data readiness for fundraising and partnership discussions. He also drafts and negotiates IP-related agreements to support licensing, collaboration, and investment.
Leonard supports high-functioning IP operations through internal policy development, portfolio oversight, and cost planning across the patent lifecycle.
